Dryer Repair

Samsung is known for making reliable, long-lasting appliances, but like any appliance, they can experience malfunctions. Error codes are designed to let users know the nature of these malfunctions, as each one corresponds to a particular area of the appliance.

If your Samsung dryer is displaying an error code, or if you just want to be prepared, this guide is for you. We cover all popular Samsung dryer models, including:

Error codes dE, do, dF, 1DC, 1dF, dC, d0

Depending on the model of Samsung dryer you own, your dryer may display one of the codes listed above to indicate a problem with the dryer door. The most common solutions are:

  • Check for door obstructions: Make sure nothing is stuck in the door or obstructing the latch mechanism, such as clothing or lint.
  • Replace door latch: If the latch is damaged or faulty, source a replacement part and replace the old latch with a new, functional one.

Error codes 1tCS, tS, 1tc5, t5, 1 tC, tC, tCS, tO, tC5, t0, tE, tE3, 1 HC, HC, hE, HC4

These codes indicate that the dryer is running hotter than it should be. This can be due to lint obstructing airflow, or due to a voltage problem. Some solutions include:

  • Clean the lint filter: Remove the lint filter (usually located inside the door opening) and thoroughly clean out all lint. Ensure the filter housing is also lint-free. This should be done each time the dryer is used.
  • Clean the vent line: Disconnect the vent line from the back of the dryer and from where it vents externally. Thoroughly vacuum out any lint build-up. Use a duct cleaning brush to remove any build-up that is hard to reach.
  • Check the dryer voltage: Make sure your dryer is using the correct voltage outlet. Consult your Samsung manual for specifications.

Error codes E3, AC, EEE, Et, AE3, AE4, AE5, 1 AC

These errors indicate a communication issue with the internal components of your dryer. It can often be fixed by resetting your Samsung dryer, as follows:

  • Disconnect your dryer from its power source, either by unplugging it or by turning off the corresponding circuit breaker.
  • Wait two minutes.
  • Plug the dryer back in. The error code should have cleared, leaving your dryer operational.

Error code dn

This error code occurs in models with more complex features that require regular software updates. The code means that a software update is being downloaded. The best thing to do is to wait and give the update time to finish. If the error code is still displaying after 24 hours with no change, try resetting the dryer using the method outlined above.

Error codes bE, 6C2, bC2, bE2, 6E, 6E2

These error codes indicate a problem with your dryer’s control panel, usually meaning that one or more of the buttons on the panel are jammed. Here’s how to fix it:

  • Turn off your dryer so you don’t accidentally start a cycle.
  • Take a microfiber cloth and thoroughly clean the panel.
  • Carefully massage each button, paying particular attention to the button corners, as this will help to release any that are jammed.
  • Turn your dryer back on and check to see if the error code has cleared.

Error codes 9E1, 9C1, 2E, 9E

These error codes mean that your dryer has detected a problem with the voltage it is connected to. To fix this:

  • Check to ensure that your dryer is not connected to the outlet with an extension cord or plugged into a power strip.
  • Check to see that you are plugging your dyer into the correct voltage outlet. In the US, most high-powered appliances, like dryers, should be plugged into a 240-volt circuit instead of the standard 120-volt.
  • Make sure your dryer is designed for use in your country. If you’ve imported your dryer from overseas, it may be designed to be used with a different voltage system.
  • If the issue persists, call in an electrician – there may be a problem with your home’s power supply.

Error codes FE, 1FC, FC

These error codes show that there has been an interruption to the dryer’s power supply. This could mean that there has been a power outage, or that the dryer was unexpectedly unplugged during its drying cycle. This code usually doesn’t indicate a deeper issue and can normally be resolved by performing a hard reset:

  • Unplug your dryer and leave it unplugged for two full minutes.
  • Plug the dryer back in. The error code should have cleared.

Error codes oD, 1 AC7, 3C, HC2

These codes tell you that there has been an issue detected with the dryer’s moisture sensors. This code will pop up if your dryer detects that the clothes are taking longer to dry than they should – here’s how you can fix the problem.

  • Make sure your clothes aren’t soaking: The clothes you’re putting in your dryer should ideally have been subjected to a spin cycle in your washer, so that they’re damp, not soaking. Make sure you either spin or thoroughly wring out your clothes before putting them in the dryer to avoid this issue.
  • Clean the sensors: If the dryer’s moisture sensors are dirty or coated in residue, they won’t be able to properly detect moisture. Use a microfiber cloth and some rubbing alcohol to make sure they’re clean.
  • Avoid dryer sheets: Dryer sheets create a greasy residue and can impact the performance of your moisture sensors. Try to avoid using these – dryer balls have a similar effect but without any of the residue issues.
